After the last round of the WSK Super Master Series in May, Braeken had decided to turn the page and accept the Junior challenge together with Stan Pex and his team. Since then, the Belgian had not climbed into the Mini until last Wednesday when, without testing, he headed to the Circuit Alain Prost in Le Mans to race the International Trophy.
Together with coach Stan, Tom put forward all the experience gained in Mini, managing to adapt quickly to the vehicle. From the 14th place of qualifying it was all a crescendo right up to the 5th place of the Final.
The key moment of the event was the Prefinal where the SP Motorsport standard-bearer recovered 7 positions, gaining 7th place on the starting grid of the Final. He then completed the job by recovering two more positions and placing himself in the top5.
Tom Braeken, SP Motorsport: «It was an exciting challenge. It’s been a long time since climbing into a minikart as I am now dedicated full time to Junior classes. Having overcome the initial obstacle due to size and power, it was easy to find the feeling again. I’m satisfied with the 5th Final position, but now it’s time to dedicate myself to the Junior again.»
Now it’s time to come back to Junior training for Braeken.
